Calling You Out, Elephants in the Room

I've been so fortunate to have quality people in my life. The potential to grow only happens when you live and the biggest part of living is interaction with people.
I ran across a woman I knew years back while staying in Norfolk to refocus after my divorce. She made a serious impression on my 11 years ago, and she made an even bigger impression on me this time around.

What I found so extremely valuable in the time I had the privilage to spend with her wasn't the fact that she is physically beautiful, absolutely motivated, smart, funny or downright sexy. She gave me such a gift by calling me on the carpet about things I'd just as surely ignore.

Hands down, this woman is smarter than me. She taught me in a brand new way how intelligence isn't just about business, or "book smarts" but just as importantly if not more, emotional intelligence.

She said that I had an elephant in the room when we were together, and she was right. She could see that I had some baggage I still needed to deal with, things I wasn't even acknowledging.

Her advice was priceless and her friendship more than proven. This woman is a gem among mortals.

So often we lie to ourselves about what's really making up our interior selves. We conveniently gloss over the apprehensions, the doubt, the uncertainty. It's ironic that I coach people and I still fall victim to my own b.s. no matter how well I can see it in everyone else.

All the best!
